I upcycled a hard shell case I found at a thrift store, it was a "traveling liquor bar" back in the 1960s. It was all black and unfortunately its accessories were missing. I still thought the case had potential though, and I saved it from eternal thrift store hell and took it home.
I painted the outer shell a Robin's egg blue. This color in itself has a very retro feel and I knew it would look great on the case. I then painted a pin up girl (Photo Source: is from the lovely @misspsychocat on Instagram) with blue hair and a red bandana on the front. I sealed it with a satin varnish. I added about 3 coats to make sure the paint is protected well.
I had so much fun with this project that I plan on hunting down more vintage cases to paint. Stay tuned.
