Veteran Portrait Painting on Wood

This is a commissioned piece that required I build a smaller than normal wood "canvas". Unlike my usual 24x36 wood pallet paintings, this commission required a smaller "canvas". I built this 14x14 piece from cedar and it worked quite nicely for this particular piece.

Original photograph is from the 1940s.

I really enjoyed painting this piece and am more than happy with how it turned out. I will be doing a similar second commission for the same customer from another military photograph from the 40s.

I am toying with the idea of offering 14x14 pieces for commission during the holidays, stay tuned.
