Biggie Smalls, aka the Notorious B.I.G., aka Christopher Wallace, is without a doubt, one of the greatest rappers that ever lived. His music definitely reminds me of my youth! And "clubbing"... in the days when it was all about dancing.
I've never painted Biggie, but have always loved this portrait of him, originally taken by photographer Barron Claiborne. Claiborne took this photo of Biggie Smalls just three days before his death in 1997. It was titled, "The King of New York".
This painting is on a hand made 14x14" wood piece. It was painted rather loosely, in a style that I'm becoming quite comfortable with. Black and white portrait with a colorful, chaotic background.
